Poem: Perfect Moment
Sitting on the hillock,
In front of home,
Dog by my side.
Peaceful moment,
Birds, pines, clouds shimmer their presence.
Final day of summer warms tired bones.
Dog chews a branch at my feet.
Satisfaction, perfect moment,
Nothing to do, no one to answer.
Peaceful. Soak it in.
Breeze comes up
Hint of fall on its back,
Reminder of chill winds
That also frequent this place.
Farmer’s Almanac predicts a bitter winter.
Back to now, take in the moment,
This crown of summer’s day.
Don’t taint it with tomorrow,
With what’s to come.
Be fully here, right now.
Crow caws.
Flowers yellow, purple, white
Vibrate in gentle breeze.
Dog rests snout on paws.
I feel the perfection
And sigh.
